There’s been a lot of talk recently about “local snowboarding” and “Local scenes”, well Saturday night Darkside in Stowe threw a party in their shop that brought just about everyone from the local area out of the woodwork to hang out, skate, get wizardry and listen to a good punk band.

Mike Toohey who manages the Darkside along with our friends Matt Jaggerman and Jeff Rumore threw the event. There was a bbq, beers, a sick skate session on the mini ramp and finally the night ended with Spit Jack; Rome soft goods product manager George, Rome designer Forester, and Toohey’s rock and roll band. There was a big crew from Rome in attendance, tons of friends from Burlington, as well as just about every Stowe local. Good times were had by all!

Stale, knows how to do it, win the Junior Worlds and then head to Bali to the beach

The entire time I was in Japan with Frode he would play that Biggie song over and over again and asked me if I knew it or he would rap I used to Sardines for dinner, so I’m guessing by this message that Stale just won Junior Worlds and now he and Frode are in Bali sitting on a beach somewhere loving life….bastards

I also heard a little rumor that the Absinthe movie premieres went off this past weekend and Lucas nabbed the opening part, Epic! Here is the teaser to their new movie which features not only Lucas but Bjorn and MFR as well

Our Soft goods product manager George, graphic designer Forester, and Darkside Stowe shop manager Toohey are all in a band together. Having possibly one of the best names I’ve heard in a while, “Spit Jack” will be playing metal tonight at Darkside Stowe’s mini ramp party. It will certainly be a scene of hooligans, wizards, lovers of board sports, partyers, gogo dancers, cheap beer and whiskey aficionados, and all around awesomeness. I saw them practice last night and if it’s anything like what they’ll play tonight it’s gonna be awesome! Think about that, a band playing inside a shop fronted by the shop’s manager….Awesome, local snowboard scene at it’s finest!

In the coming weeks and months we’re sure to have all kinds of posts with rider updates, and heavy hitting movie news, this post however is neither of these. A few days ago our Colorado/Utah rep D.I. texted me a link to an auto tone video on YouTube that was spreading like wildfire. I’m sure by now anyone reading this knows what I’m talking about, but for those that have been living under a rock or don’t get out on the internet much, these dudes auto tuned this guy yelling at a news reporter threatening a burglar who had broken into his house and tried to rape his sister. Although those circumstances are no laughing matter, his enthusiasm, confidence and seriousness in the matter is. “Don’t even worry about confessing, we gonna find you!” “Hide you kids Hide you wife, cause he’s raping everybody out there” “Man you is so dumb” the guy has a real way with words, a regular Hemingway. Well we’ve been listening to this song around the office nonstop, It’s got like a bazillion hits on YouTube and I probably have contributed like 100 of em myself. It ranks right up there for me with the Gary Busey Vitamin water ads, the Kenny Powers clips, those idiots on Jersey Shore, and the intro to the movie Patton as top on my internet playlists right now. Enjoy, download the song on iTunes and buy a t-shirt from these guys…really you can get a t-shirt that says in big letters “WE GONNA FIND YOU” I can’t make this shit up.

Pro athletes don’t like talking about getting hurt, I noticed it right away when speaking with Bjorn, LNP and Marie about their injuries this season. Injuries are not a fun thing to go through and certainly not a fun thing to talk about. This winter we dealt with several really serious injuries. When it is one of your friends and especially someone who always seems to be so happy and positive, it can really bring you down. When something major happens in anything these days there seems to be many rumors, stories, “instant experts” floating around telling “exactly what happened”. The internet seems to have instantly bred a million critics who are in the know, ichatting, blogging, skyping around their gossip. Here is what happened to Marie in her own words.
