Q&A

Where are you from, where you at?

I’m from Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada. It’s a small town between Montreal and Quebec City. I sometimes go back when I go see my parents. Now I’m in Stoneham which is a resort in Quebec City, 20 minutes from downtown.

How long have you been riding?

I have been on the mountain since I was three. I skied before snowboarding for a few years, until my parents let me switch to snowboarding. Never went back.

What’s your set up?

I’m regular with about a 21 inch wide stance, sometimes closer to 22. My bindings are +9, -9 degrees. I tune and sometimes I de-tune, depending on what I’m riding and how I feel.

Do you customize your gear in anyway?

I don’t. I ride it as it comes.

What was your favorite spot you filmed at for The Shred Remains, and why?

Whistler, I spent a while there. I’ve never spent that much time in the backcountry before. I usually only do a week or two a year. I didn’t really ride pow last year, or at least I hardly rode it, so it was good to be in Whistler and ride good snow. It was a little hard with the weather though and I think we had 2 sunny days during March, so we spent the cloudy days riding the resort, having fun.

Were you “lucky” enough to get to spend any time in the Rome van during your season? If so, what would be 3 words to describe the van?

Dirty, fat, whore.

Most memorable new trick you landed for the first time?

Any pow tricks are memorable.

What would your perfect, “no cameras”, day of snowboarding be?

I remember a few years back I use to ride the resort a lot. A bunch of friends and I would bomb down the snowpark superfast all day. I have a lot of good memories from spraying people, and hitting rails and jumps on the way down.

Any pre-shred “go to” meal?

I’m a big fan of the tomato sandwich. I do just tomatoes, cheese and mayo when I’m in a rush. If I have some time I will put avocado and an egg in it.

Any snowboard superstitions you believe in?

Not really, but I do call the last run sometimes.

All expense paid vacation anywhere, where would you go?

Somewhere in the South Pacific, like Indonesia. That is where you’d find all the weird animals and insects on the planet; from huge spiders to komodo dragons or tiny death frogs to some regular cats. I would spend a lot of time under water scoping reefs and the days I don’t feel like being under water I would surf.

Craziest riding experience from last season?

Just being in the backcountry overall. It’s so easy to talk about a trick you see in a movie and say the trick was so-so or it was sick. You never really see the whole story behind it. Backcountry is a lot of waiting. There are some many things that can happen just on the way to the spot. Your sled might f*ck up, a huge cloud might come out, a crew might be heading in the same zone you’re going. You will build your jump for a few hours sometimes and while shoveling the sun might go away or it will get windy. Once you’re ready, you start as soon as you can, hoping everything will stay clear and good. Then you guess the speed, hoping to be right. So, you wake up around 6am and your first hit will be around 1pm, all depending what you’re doing. That’s why when you land, you’re PUMPED!

Best and worst thing about snowboarding right now?

Worst: Being hurt. It’s crazy how bad you feel being hurt, but you will always retry and go for it when you’re healthy again. Best: Snowboarding overall. The feelings you get, the fun you have, and the new experiences…it’s just great.

Where do you plan on spending next season?

No idea…well, I do have a little idea but it’s too early to talk about it.

Any shout outs?

All my friends, family, people supporting me, and babes
