Boards N Motion Profile
Give us a quick run-down of your shop and its history.
Boards N Motion first started selling snowboards in 1989. I sold 17 boards, a mix of Sims, Gnu and Burton! It has grown from 500 sq ft to 4500; we have been at our current location since 1994.

What is it about your shop that keeps the local shreds coming back to get all their gear?
Many factors! The most important is consistent GREAT customer service and a well rounded selection of the best equipment available on the market. The other key ingredient is that my entire staff is passionate about snowboarding and we ALL ride, a lot!
Describe your local shop crew; do you often have people hanging out at the shop?
BNM has always had an amazing shop team, and since it is well established we have riders from South Lake, North Lake and everywhere in between, they really help generate customers and pass information to all kinds of riders.
Any up and coming shop riders to keep an eye on?
Absolutely! Johnny Brady is one of my top team riders, he is killing it!
What’s your local spot for lunch/dinner how about your evening hangout zone.
Lunch spot is an all organic place called Confluence Kitchen. Hang at night is Pistol Pete’s, pool, darts, big screen, and cocktails.
What are your off-seasons like in the shop?
Summer is all about sunglasses, skateboards, wakeboards, and all the accessories.
Do you have any yearly event at the shop that you look forward to?
Yes, we have our Annual Pre-season Sale and Snowboard Swap the second Saturday of October, this year was the 19th annual!
What’s the hardest part of working in the shop?
When you spend an hour or more with a customer showing them hardgoods and then they tell you they have a pro-form from a friend! Or when it’s sloow! Like the past 9 months!
“Will you guys sponsor me?” “Do you have any free stickers?” which one do you hear most often?
Do you have any free stickers, but “will you sponsor me” is right up there.
What’s the piece of Rome gear you guys get asked about most often?
This season it’s the 390 artist series binding.
What’s the closest shred spot to the shop? What’s your local shred scene like?
Boreal is the closest kid scene, but Sugarbowl is my favorite.
What’s the best story of a customer trying to return something or ask for their money back?
Had a kid come in to return his snowboard after he’d ridden it for the season. Said he wasn’t happy with it cause he couldn’t get his backside 5’s down on it.
Do you get out on the hill enough to make you happy?
Never get enough time on the hill, even if I could go everyday it wouldn’t be enough!
What’s the shop’s all-time most played shred flick? What makes it the best flick for repeated viewing?
This season I’d say its Neverland and Videograss. Just great shots of riders going huge and pulling off incredible shit!
What’s on the music playlist in the shop lately? Who usually gets controls over the music and why?
There is a constant argument about music between the staff so we listen to everything, but we all agree on some of the oldies like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and a taste of Johnny Cash.
Any celebrity or pseudo-celebrity sightings ever happen in the shop?
Lots of pros roll through but one of our favorite celebs is Robin Williams.
