Satellite Profile

Tell us a little bit about your shop and its history in the shred scene.

We started in 2002 by Raul Pinto and JG Mazzotta and the shop has always carried and supported snowboarding. I think we have 20+ years riding on a level outside of just recreational use and the product and service reflects a knowledge and love for something we have been doing for a long time. Come at me bro we gots all the trivia dawg!!

What makes your shop different then all the others?

We’re one of the few shops with owners, riders and employees that all rip and participate 100% in the shred scene.

Do you have the “couch vibe” or is it more about the product? What is the vibe in general?

It’s a little of both. There are some hardcore lurkers but we are product geeks with a strong attention to design and detail, so we have lots of solid brands.

Does your shop carry skate and surf or is it all snow? Briefly describe what we can find on the shelves.

Skate and snow only, because that’s all we’re active in.

What are three things it takes to work in the store?

  1. personality and customer service
  2. knowledge
  3. and stoked to shred

If it’s a hammering snow day and some of the best pow ever, what do you do to keep employees in the store?

We do a good job of all not working too much so everybody get plenty of days in.

Describe your crew that works there.

It’s a great mix of creative minds, riders, filmers and people with very different backgrounds and different talents. This helps Satellite progress and provide creative ventures.

What is the most played shred flick in the history of the shop and why?

Happy Hour, because those are the glory years… shit was raw back then!!

Who are some riders on the come-up that visit your shop... a rider people should look out for?

Zack Rawles, Austin Julikhine, Jake and Zack Black, Courtney Cox, and Jackson Fowler.

Where is the shop local hang out? The best place to grab a drink after hours, or chill with some friends?

The Downer but everybody always hits the park and skate, its way more productive :)

If the Rome crew came through would you be cautious to let them in or does the reputation surpass them?

They have all been here and they are always welcome to come back.
