Tactics Profile

Give us a quick run-down of your shop and its history.
Tactics is committed to building a company that can give back to our community and help intelligently conserve, protect, and restore the earth`s biodiversity and natural processes. As part of this goal, Tactics is proud to be a member of 1% For The Planet, which means we give at least 1% of net sales to nonprofit organizations that are engaged in efforts to reduce our negative environmental impact and work toward restoring the health of our planet. In the words of David Brower, we believe "There is no business to be done on a dead planet."

What is it about your shop that keeps the local shreds coming back to get all their gear?
Our goal is to be a model of environmentally sustainable and socially responsible company. Tactics sells gear to be used outside and when we’re not in the shop, we’re out surfing a local Oregon break, skating the streets of Eugene, or trekking through the backcountry in search of unspoiled powder. Other times the journey starts in the easy chair for the mechanical ride up Bachelor, Willamette, Hoodoo, Hood, or maybe Whistler or Baker if we can get away. Whatever the trip, the experience is one in which we seek fresh air and a connection to the elements one can never get inside a building. We believe that this privilege carries an obligation to help ensure that our children share the same experience. We also believe that it is important to help those less fortunate gain access to the outdoor locations so many of us take for granted.

What is it about your shop that sets it apart?
We started slanging goods out of a garage 10 years ago and we don’t forget where we came from.

Probably not, but, we’re always happy when we’re on the hill!
