Pitcrew Profile

Give us a quick run-down of your shop and its history.
PITCREW opened in 1994. We have just always been about supporting skateboarding and snowboarding. The first shop was only 300 square feet. 

What is it about your shop that keeps the local shreds coming back to get all their gear?
We just try to be honest and support everything we can. Most of the people who buy from us become family for life. 

Describe your local shop crew; do you often have people hanging out at the shop?
We have lurkers all the time, that’s part of being a shop. It doesn’t take long for them to learn the “Three Questions Rule” You get three questions and then you have to roll.

What’s your current set up?
I’m on a Graft 153

Crazy customers make for good stories, got any really good ones from the past season?
So many. The best are when someone comes in for old 5 hole bindings (you know, the pink, neon yellow and black ones) for their Sims Halfpipe and they don’t understand why you don’t have bindings for it.

Any up and coming shop riders to keep an eye on?
A bunch, AJ Lawson, Cameron Gorby, Matt Lee, Pat Lee, Brad Jordan, J Smith, Jon Kramer, and Armeen Eirooz

What are your off-seasons like in the shop?
SKATEBOARDING. Skating has always been our main focus.

Do you have any yearly event at the shop that you look forward to?
We host the Rome “I Heart Box” every fall it’s a great chance to get on the snow months before the mountains open. We have also held Civil War for the last 6 years in February. It is more a day of fun riding than a contest. 

What was your all time favorite snowboard graphic?
The Joyride Nixon board, I also always liked Tarquin Robbins Shotgun graphic from Aggression.

What’s the piece of Rome gear you guys get asked about most often?
All of the reverse camber boards. 

What’s your local shred scene like?
Good, most everyone gets along. You have to really love snowboarding to become good at it if you are from MD or PA. Our winters are short and icy. 

Any celebrity or pseudo-celebrity sightings ever happen in the shop?
Carrot Top came in once. Everyone wanted to make fun of him but he must work out 3 times a day. He would kick your ass and how would you ever tell someone that Carrot Top kicked your ass?
