It’s that time of year again, as the slopes slowly close down one-by-one and the riders start to gather and edit their footage from the year. Churning out season edits its a tradition as old as the camcorder and VHS, sure its gotten a little easier but the concept remains the same, show the world the tricks you dropped and let the Internet get one last look before a long summer of sitting and waiting….
Our regional team spans the globe from Australia to Austria and of course here in the States. To kick things off we’ll start with a Vermont local who rides Carinthia Parks at Mount Snow, Max Lyons. At 18 years old Max had a banger year taking his fair share of podiums at rail jams across the East and being featured in most C Sessions edits from Carinthia.
Moving north from Vermont we find Nicolas Tremblay, a French Canadian who spent a fair amount of his season riding at Mont St. Anne and Mont-Belu. Based on the fact this called “Park Edit” Nicolas probably has a few more shots up his sleeve….
Next up we cruise across the pond to check in with Rome UK. The UK probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind when you think of snowboard talent but don’t sleep on these cats. With dry-slope all year long and short drive to different resorts in the Alps, these riders get some serious on snow time. Scotty Penman is a Rome UK rider with a serious bag of tricks and sense of humor. Skip to 2:15 to see what we mean about his sense of humor….
Moving a little further East through Europe we come to the young Swiss rider Moritz Thönen, at age 17 this young ripper has honed his talents at Saas Fee and Laax, we cant wait to see what the future holds for him!
Skipping a few thousand miles geographically we find Joss McAlpin, a 19 year old Australian who splits his time between Mammoth and Perisher in Australia as well as Cardrona Resort in NZ. Sounds like a pretty damn fun year no matter how you do it! A new addition to the Rome Australia team we’re amped to see him how his “summer” goes…
Coming full circle around the globe we find Alan Splitter, a regional rider hailing from Arizona, Alan spent most of his winter mobbing around the Tahoe area ripping park laps. Hell yeah Alan!
So there you have it, a taste of the next generation of kids on shred. Keep an eye out for these riders next season and over the summer as you’ve not heard the last of them!
