What's up with those Guys?: LNP

Laurent recently took a little slam out in Breckenridge Colorado where he’d been hanging with the Quebec crew, lapping the mountain, skating, and getting ready for the season. He’s doing alright now, he’s just gotta chill for a few weeks, but he’ll be back filming for Videograss and the new Rome movie before to long, (wait new Rome movie?......more about that later). I caught up with Laurent on iChat the other night to see what was up and how he was doing. Here is our iChat conversation pretty much untouched except for some various swearing that went down between the two of us……
John Cavan - you want to try to do an interview for the website
Laurent-Nicholas Paquin - Yeah
JC - ok I'll hit you up with each question over iChat try to answer them though as you would a normal interview, don't just give me two words iChat style HA!
LNP - yeah dude just fucking ask the question
JC - Where are you right now
LNP - Home, Quebec, in my room
JC - What are you drinking at the moment
LNP - water, I'm off the booze for a while
JC - that's good, so you went to CO for a bit, who did you go with
LNP - It was me, Will, Alex Cantin and Louif Paradis. Then Nic Sauvé joined a little later
JC - and you guys rented a place for a while?
LNP - yup, it was a pretty sweet condo
JC - Did you just speak French in it
LNP - yes
JC - Did you only speak French to each other the whole time you were in Colorado like you guys tend to do
LNP – nah, when we hung out with people we spoke English. We’re better at it now
JC - Cool, that's good to hear...what's the funniest thing you've said to one another in French about someone who couldn't speak French that was in the room
LNP - Haha nothing, we made fun of you, cause we blog shit and the one day we didn't you cried. So we thought you were an idiot for a hot sec
JC - Huh interesting, good to know that even when I'm on the other side of the country you still make fun of me.....What kind of weird shit was Will up to while you were out there
LNP - trying to be a vegetarian....idiot
JC - HA! How was the snowboarding while you were there
LNP - it was fun, park stuff. not too many rails, well Breck didn't, there was a triple line of jumps
JC - Yeah the videos you guys made looked like it was pretty fun, was this the first time you've gone somewhere to ride early season instead of Quebec
LNP - yeah
JC - Ok so you got a little banged up out there what happened
LNP - I overshot the second jump doing a cab 3 but It turned out to be some sort of switch rodeo to my ass, so I have a compression fracture on my L1 vertebrae
JC - what's been the most annoying thing about being hurt
LNP - gotta put on my back brace anytime I want to get up, so in the night if I want to piss I gotta put it on
JC - damn that sucks......how much TV have you been watching
LNP - well if surfthechannel is like TV, a lot. My girlfriend got me into some TV shows that kick ass...Dexter and Weeds so I watch episode by episode every seasons
JC - How about movies what movies have you been watching
LNP - District 9, Year One, Inglorious Bastards, the Zero movie too
JC - Yeah, Inglorious Bastards is really sick, how about skate movies I'm sure you are watching a bunch of those
LNP - nah, mellow on those ones cause it just makes me want to go out and skate or board...but I can't....I did watch the Zero one
JC - Ha you answered it already with Zero sorry....did I tell you I'm working on two computers at once surfing tube8, talking to two other people and interviewing you.....I'm multi-tasking like a motherfucker...speaking of tube8 how much of that are you up to now sitting on the couch all day
LNP - hahahahaha, not too much... a little. A man has to stay mentally healthy
JC - Bridges is convinced you got hurt so that you didn't have to do his contest or ride with him in Colorado
LNP - Jesus, that's insane...I would have twist my wrist or something not my back...I was gonna do it for sure...you get money when you do it, I'm super down to ride with pat too
JC - Is it true your next years Artifact showed up the day after you got hurt
LNP - yes, we all laughed about it when I said '' that is gonna be useful!''
JC - man.....that must have sucked....sorry.....but once I knew you were ok I did laugh a little. Chris Cole skater of the year what do you think
LNP - pretty cool, I like Chris Cole
JC - what's some of your predictions for the snowboard ones, that' coming up soon
LNP - I think we don't need those, like who is better than anybody, or who achieved more...I feel like everybody does their thing and it’s cool...this ain't Hollywood man, it's snowboarding, people use to fear us, now they ask me If I’m going to the Olympics, we're going down
JC - good answer....that might be one of the most intelligent things I've heard you say.....Are you still watching the Steelers since our trip to PA
LNP - na, that was the only time, funny how we don't really remember the night cause we got through 7 pitchers, the two of us
JC - yeah even football somehow becomes entertaining after 7 pitchers
LNP - yes, and so is slayer in a bar full of non slayer fans
JC - HA HA HA yes it is…..Speaking of Slayer what have you been listening to for music lately
LNP - ummm, Metallica, Wicked Lady, good old Black Sabbath, Angel Witch, some Beatles, Zepplin...whatever starts on my iTune King Diamond, Acid King, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Misfits, Danzig
JC - yeah it's funny to me cause I hear kids that have never met you think you switch your music up, but really since I've known you, you listen to pretty much everything that is Rock and Roll, in fact when we travel you are always the one other than me that has the most good, different shit on his iTunes...it's funny how kids feel like they have to label music all the time
LNP - yeah, like I still listen to 60’s music...I love The Animals and the Beatles, Floyd and Zeppelin, it s not cause I don't wear your grandmas shirt anymore that I changed, I still wear your grandmas shirt anyway, just more into baseball band tour shirts
JC - HA HA, so you're gonna be hanging in Quebec for a bit, but you'll be back filming for Videograss and Rome after New Years?
LNP - yup, like probably February
JC - cool thanks for doing this......have fun putting your back brace on to piss and looking at all that snow fly
