Premature Jibulation – Appalachian Mt., North Carolina
Dec 09, 2009 - 04:36 PM EST

December 6th opening day at Appalachian Ski Mountain in Boone North Carolina. For the first time in the Southeast Rome SDS presents the Premature Jibulation. The weather finally turned and the guns were fired up. Snowmaking was in full affect all night and through the morning. The park crew was there before sun-up checking snow depths and making final decisions on what features were going to be set. Normally for events the set up gets to go in prior to the day of, but Premature Jibulation allows no such time. Shredders were lined up waiting for the gates to open, charging out onto the slopes and racing for first chair.

The park crew hooked up a sexy set-up that consisted of a round rail to lift tower line or flat box to down skinny box. The course was shredable on all levels of riding and crisscrossing features was encouraged to add a little chaos. Around 80 competitors slashed it out for an hour straight with plenty of Motorhead blasting out of the speakers; the Premature Jibulating was in full force.

The level of ripping from the groms, ladies, and slashers made the picks for finals quite difficult. After the hour long jam session we jumped right into a final 30 minute shred-fest with selected standout riders. Little Gus Gordon took home a nice schwag kit for the groms top honors and Leigh Wright claimed the package for the ladies. Cline Ingle took 3rd place winning a new Rome Jacket, Kris Jones coming in 2nd with a new pair of United Bindings, and 1st place winning a new Garage Rocker was Cody Boan.

Everyone dusted off their shred sticks from all over North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and brought there “A” game to the pre jib. Great event and huge thanks to Rome Snowboards, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Recess Ride Shop, and all the competitors that made it out.
