Rome Team Update – August
Aug 18, 2010 - 01:59 PM EDT

For many in the Northern Hemisphere summer is starting to wind down, thoughts are beginning to turn to video premiers, new magazines and the upcoming winter season, but for the Southern half of the globe winter is currently full on. The Rome team has had a pretty busy summer so far, here’s a brief update of what’s been going on.
Although he’s left with a pretty savage scar, Bjorn Leines is now 100% recovered from his vicious arm injury he incurred filming with the Absinthe crew. Bjorn is currently in New Zealand with Volcom filming some last minute shots with the 9191 crew.
LNP spent time this summer shredding and skating at both Windells camp and High Cascade. He was also on hand for the premier of “Bon Voyage”, which we’ve heard he has another banger part in even with breaking his back last season.
After spending her spring and summer rehabbing her neck injury, we are super psyched to hear MFR is once again back on snow down in Chile with the Oakley crew. She’s also spent the summer surfing and working on her home on Vancouver Island.
In addition to constantly updating his blog www.helgasons.com Eiki Helgason has been extremely busy this summer. He cruised out to Windells camp as well as Camp of Champions. He also flew to Austria to film the intro to the new Pirates film which from the looks of it is going to be awesome. Currently he’s in Chile snowboarding with the Oakley team.
After flying out to Vermont to work at the Rome office on some product stuff, Lucas Debari spent some time at Hood and has been spending the rest of his free time climbing all over the Northwest and California. He’s also gearing up to head to Chile for a summer trip and then he’ll hit the road on the Absinthe premier tour for their new film Nowhere which we hear he had quite the part in.
The Johnnies (Paxson and Lazz) both spent their summer cruising around at Mt. Hood. Lazz worked all summer at Windells and Paxson spent a ton of time riding at the camp and getting himself in shape for next season. Both riders are riding super strong and should be more than ready when the snow starts flying to continue filming for “The Shred Remains”
Will Lavigne spent the summer out at Camp of Champions where he coached each session, and he even made some time to head down to Portland to check out Mt. Hood, the Videograss premiere, and Burnside.
Another rider who made it out to Mt Hood was Stale Sandbech. Stale came out to Hood for Rome week, and he also shredded some camps in Norway, finishing up his summer down under in New Zealand at the Red Bull Performance Camp.
Finally Rome is happy to promote Marie Hucal up to the main team. Marie has been shredding out of the Midwest for years under the watchful eye of our Midwest rep Pete Harvieux. She stepped up big time for us this year by riding in TWS’s Team Shoot Out, in which she was basically the only girl rider. She filmed this season with the Peep Show crew as well as the Sooner Or Later crew. Welcome aboard!
