Rome Team Week at Windells
Jul 05, 2010 - 05:59 PM EDT

Laurent, being a Jerk.
Rome week was June 26th to July 4th, but getting there a week early left plenty of time to ride, get some filming in, and really get acquainted with the new skate facilities at Windells (which are pretty amazing, by the way). It had rained out at camp, right up until the team flew in, then it was perfect bluebird skies and aloe vera baths at night to help nurse the brutal sunburns from the first couple days on the glacier.
Camp was awesome during Rome week with “stacher night” in full effect. LNP aka Larry Maneuvers, and Johnnie Paxson got in touch with their artistic side scribbling bad beards on campers faces. Also, the largest game of knock-out ever seen went down, Stale held his own for a long time, but ended up going down late in the game. Which is impressive, because we’re not sure if there’s really basketball in Norway.
All in all, time out in Hood this year was amazing. If you’d like a more detailed look at a behind the scenes of what went down, make sure to read a blog post by Rome’s official Oregon guide Mary Walsh here http://mtwalsh.bnqt.com/blogs/detail/Summer-in-Hood-vol.-4/6256. Huge thanks to Tim Windell and his whole crew, Tommy J, Rudinski, Randa, Eagle Eyes Jerry Thompson, Leland and of course Mary Walsh. Till next year…
