What's up with those Guys?: Eiki

Our Icelandic killer has been on the warpath as of late. With two serious video parts, a nomination for TWS’ Reader’s Choice Award, and a blog with his brother that is one of the most frequently updated things in snowboarding (as well as one of the most unusual), Eiki is one busy guy. He recently got a little banged up while filming in Sweden so I checked in with him over iChat to see how the early part of his season has been going, what follows is our conversation via the world wide web, I hope you enjoy. – John Cavan
John Cavan: Yo you wanna do this?
Eiki Helgason: I’m ready
JC: where are you right now?
EH: I’m at home, Akureyri Iceland
JC: How was your Christmas?
EH: They were super mellow just hangin with my friends and family, and it has been snowing nonstop we have 4 feet of snow here haha
JC: Crazy, Do you think Santa goes to Iceland first because it's close to the North Pole or does he hit it last on his way back?
EH: I think first, so his sled gets a little more light weight before the long trip
JC: Yeah that's what I thought too.....So four feet of snow eh are there all kinds of rails that you guys can do now or have you done them all there
EH: I have been injured a bit, ripped my collarbone from my shoulder so now I have done that to both of them haha, there are 3 filmers and 1 photographer coming here tomorrow so now we are gonna start filming like crazy
JC: Sounds Sick, Is Iceland still bankrupt or governmentless or whatever it was last year
EH: yeah, we are still pretty much bankrupt trying to pay everything that we owe other countries haha
JC: Huh, sounds pretty much the same as here. So you and your brother's blog is pretty awesome, how did that come about
EH: that was our agent’s idea so we tried it, and it was super fun so we just got hooked doing that,
JC: You guys seem to have a huge following with that, did you see how many people were commenting about you guys on the TWS awards
EH: Haha, yeah, that was crazy... people seem to be stoked on what we are doing with the blog, so we are just gonna keep on doing that as much as possible
JC: So your brother just got nominated for all kinds of awards.....how the hell did the two of you get so good coming from Iceland
EH: we just rode on everything we saw and had almost too much fun, then before we knew it things just started rolling
JC: How about your music have you been working on anything new
EH: No! my brain hasn't come up with any creative beats for a while, I have been trying but nothing sounds right. hopefully soon i will have a new banger haha
JC: HA HA....it's gonna be hard to top the Diarrhea song or the creepy one about drinking Pepsi in Tokyo
EH: haha true
JC: Sorry for the pause, I was just rolling Dice........won a quick two bucks….then lost
EH: smooth
JC: Not really that smooth it’s the first two bucks I’ve won in a while, what have you been watching for movies
EH: “The boat that rocked”, that movie is awesome and the music in it is off the hook
JC: huh, I've never seen it, What snow flicks did u like this year
EH: I liked “Videograss”, it has such a good feeling through the whole movie
JC: Cool, yeah the intro was really sick to that one felt like old snowboard movies...I think we needed that
EH: for sure
JC: How about skate stuff anything new
EH: Extremely Sorry is sick. a little to long but good skating
JC: what's your plan for the next few weeks
EH: I am going to be filming here at home till the snow goes or till we have done every possible spot around here, then go somewhere else and keep on filming
oh and one more thing I’m in the x games hehe have you heard of that?
JC: the X-games....I might have heard about those.......they are a really extreme contest right…… I kid, yeah I heard, stoked for you
EH: HA, I got the invitation the other day
JC: You and Haldor could prolly switch runs and go as each other and not many people would know....that could be pretty funny
EH: haha yeah that would be funny
JC: Any new sponsors...

JC: that's a shop right......still no drink sponsor huh....You must still be holding out for Pepsi, you need to get your agent on that one HA
EH: haha yeah, he’s been trying... that would be a dream come true haha

EH: Rome Artifact 1985 144, 390's bindings, Libertine boots, Oakley apparel, Skullcandy Headphones
JC: Nice......I need some headphones, help me out with that one, HA, ok well hopefully you're all healed up and we can get together soon....I hear we got some sort of movie to make...........
EH: Thanks, yeah I heard that too, gonna be fun
JC: Cool man thanks....good luck filming and we'll talk soon......Make some new music, the office is anxiously awaiting
EH: haha, thanks, I will try to come up with a new beat for sure
