Mt. Hood Skibowl, OR – Premature Jibulation

Dec 20, 2009 - 10:45 AM EST

The season started out pretty early here in Oregon, the second week of November chairs started crankin, and pow was gettin slashed. So the Premature Jibulation on December 12th at Ski Bowl wasn't even close to being the first days of riding for most. The past two weeks of bitter cold and sunshine gave way to a strange mix of rain in snow, which would have deterred many had the park crew at Ski Bowl not setup two sick triple lines of rails and boxes accessed via rope-tow for all to shred.

Right around noon, things got kickin like horse on crack, with well over 80 shreds overloading the rope-tow for a 45 minute jam session. With only the finest metal and punk-rock blastin, all sorts of presses, taps, and rotations were going down. After smoothin out the lips and tossin some more soft stuff on the landings the rope-tow was fired back up, and another 30 minutes of serious shred boardin went down. When all was said and done three riders had separated themselves from the rest of the pack, making the judging the easiest of any Premature Jibulation event in recent memory. Derek Leuer took home 3rd place and a new Rome jacket with his back one to switch back three on the flat rail, Tyler Wike picked himself up 2nd place and some new United bindings, by gettin creative on the creeper rail all day, and Rob Love nabbed 1st and a new Garage Rocker board with his gap to back-lips on the flat down flat rail and cab 270s all over the place.

After awards the grill was fired up, swag was tossed out and the rope-two got to turnin again for another hour or so for all to enjoy.
Big thanks to Ski Bowl, Jesse and the park crew for gettin a rad set-up goin, the rope-tow for not making me un-strap, all the homies that came down from Washington to slap box and the one skier I let drop in on the course for hitting his nuts and making me laugh. See ya next year.
