“5 Questions with Greg Bokenkamp”

Aug 19, 2008 - 10:06 AM

1. Best part about filming for NCW? Witnessing my dream come true first hand.

2. First year shredding full time and filming, How did it go? Was it what you expected? My first year filming full time was incredible and incredibly humbling. It went well, all things considered, no major injuries, no truck trouble, no crashed snowmobile and a few stomps in between. Being on the road with no agenda except for trying to be where the snow was falling was relatively stress free and quite enjoyable.

3. Riding with Bjorn, Marius and Fox in the backcountry good, bad or intimidating? Riding with those guys was an honor. They've been at it for much longer than I have. I don't know if they know it but they taught me a lot about looking at the side of a mountain and really understanding it. I also learned about the part of snowboarding that is a mind game. Envisioning a leap of faith on some tech drop with a precise landing and run-out between trees is easy. Making my board point down the hill towards that take-off was not always easy. The most intimidating part was building jumps with Marius wondering the whole time if he had blind spots in his vision that prevented him from seeing trees in the middle of landings. He is crazy.

4. Best trip of year while filming for NCW? That would be a toss-up between the Magical Bus Tour and the couple weeks I spent in Utah with Bjorn and Cavan. I would have to go with Utah because it was there that something clicked and my landing gear turned on.

5.Who do you think is sitting on best part for the year? That's a tough one. With so much talent in the field it's hard to say.
