The Shred Remains Montreal Premier

Friday, September 16th, 2011

O Canada! O Canada! The Rome van and team invaded to Montreal to experience life north of the union.

With three showings; two at Cinema Du Parc and a third at the L’Ecurie Bar et Table, the city of Montreal got its Shred Remains fix just in time for pre-season jitters.

At the second stop of the world premier tour, Canadian shreds were excited to pick up free Rome Shwag, hang with the team and have their faces melted by Rome’s latest snow porn.

We’re not quite sure how it happened, but somehow Laurent, Marie, and Will got up into the projection booth, where shenanigans definitely ensued.

With Marie-France Roy, Laurent, and Will Lavigne in attendance for autograph signings, product tosses, and board giveaways, the crowd was hyped on a chance to win a 2012 Artifact, and pick up some The Shred Remains custom tees.

After the first two showings, the Rome team and friends from Empire in Montreal went down to L’Ecurie Bar et Table to send it far into the night. Marie, Laurent, and Will showed up with good friend Ben Bilocq in some serious style; they had assembled a pretty epic rental bike gang along the way to the bar. The movie looped as high fives were exchanged late into the night, eventually closing down the venue and heading home.

Congregation of Shred Kicks off The Shred Remains Tour

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

The first service of The Shred Remains Premier Tour, was held on the University of Vermont Campus in the most fitting venue; Ira Allen Chapel.  With Rome Shred Johnny Lazz and AmArmy shred Riley Nickerson at the pulpit, free schwag and a holy shred revival were undoubtedly ready to ensue.

Over 300 students crammed into the giant hall, filling the pews with anticipation of the first premier of the season.  The Burlington crowd at UVM let out a chorus of gasps over Lazz’s wall slam, cheers for Bjorn conquering the pyramid gap, and erupted in applause for Laurent’s rail domination.

The movie ended in typical Rome fashion: a product toss and board giveaway with a game of spin to win. Contestants  spun in circles 30 times and raced to the van, which was parked outside, moshed their way back through the crowd to snag the board from Lazz’s outstretched hand. The winner had clearly been training for this very moment his entire life and couldn’t have been more stoked on his new Artifact Rocker.

All in all we couldn’t have asked for a better kick off to this movie tour. A huge thanks goes out to Jarrett Barbuto and the UVM SSC for hosting us, as well as everyone who came out to support us and the movie. See you in Montreal.

Stay tuned to www.facebook.com/romesnowboards, www.twitter.com/romesds, and our Instagram account RomeSnowboards for all the latest updates from the road as the van rolls on.

Camp of Champions Wrap-up

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

It’s a wrap. Camp of Champions has officially closed up shop for Summer of Shred 2011. Five weeks of snowboarding have never gone by so fast. It was my first time up there, and I have a feeling it definitely won’t be my last. Glad to be back home in Minnesota for now, but nothing can compare to July in Whistler, BC! Can’t say thanks enough to Rome for giving me the opportunity to snowboard this summer.

MAN HUNT for the last Rome Game Night! It’s basically a huge game of tag. When you get caught, we draw a mustache on you to show that you’re out. The last one standing wins a new Rome board! P: Viktor Simco

Pick your poison. All these 2012 bad boys got a good taste of the COC glacier this July. Now they’re all packed and shipped back to their dark, dusty warehouse for now.

Wreck Beach in Vancouver. Top Secret.

Back to America. This propeller-powered pack of gum pulled off the 40-minute flight to make it happen.

Vancouver has it all. Definitely a city worth checking out if you ever get the chance.

Regis Roland is the man…

Friday, July 8th, 2011

When you think of Lucas, or Johann, or Jeremy, or Jonavan, you need to understand who Regis was and when he did what he did…

I was watching Lines the other night, and was reminded about Apocalypse Snow, and then it came up in conversation around the office this morning.

Before you criticize the extra-curricular in the video, remember: the year was 1983.   Forget everything in this video except the snowboarding; Regis says it best himself in this interview

Enjoy some big mountain shredding (and some other weird stuff)…

Windells is in Session

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Ahh, summer camp. When thinking back upon my fonder days of youth spent hanging out in the woods, getting eaten alive by mosquitos, failed attempts at learning various swimming strokes, and being forced to do arts and crafts, it seems like perhaps a pretty miserable experience.

Not at Windells. I’ve heard a lot of BS tag lines before, but perhaps the most legitimate one I’ve heard thus far is that it’s the “funnest” place on Earth. Nothing could be closer to the truth, as I found out upon my first visit to camp. This place is any shredder’s dream come true. As much as I wanted to skate around the seemingly endless array of concrete skate features or go play paintball, there was work to be done.

First up was to give the Rome Van a brand new sticker job. If you see this thing ripping around Oregon, don’t get too close, I installed a flame thrower in the tailpipe. Not exactly “street legal.”

Next we overhauled the Rome house, aka Road House, with some new wall art. Man, back in my day we slept in canvas tents. These kids have it good.

The demo fleet was looking pristine, thanks to Jenny and Andy over at the demo center. Definitely head over there and demo some of the new 2012 product.

Big thanks to the Rome SDS North West crew for the whirlwind tour of the area and NJ Peterson for the killer photos. See you all next year.

I’m going to utilize a little journalistic privilege and qualify this video as metal. Why? Just watch it.

Don’t Do it in the Park…

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Ten days ago I was in Taiwan and I came across this park… not quite one in Reno… but possibly…

Worst Park Ever.
