It keeps coming…

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

Got another 6 or 7″ on Tuesday with 8-12″ projected Wednesday night through Thursday.  If you are on the East Coast, you need to figure out how to get to Vermont.

Need proof?

High Ollie at Mont Du Lac

Monday, February 13th, 2012

Viktor Simco sent us over this quick recap of the High Ollie party at Mont Du Lac:

Mont Du Lac was already one of the raddest places in Duluth to escape all the bullshit and just… snowboard. It has everything; That laid-back country-folk vibe, an amazing park crew (especially Owen from Jambox), a kickass beer selection, and now with its latest addition of a high-speed rope-tow, it’s a no-brainer for Damage to host events there every chance we get.

With tons of prizes from Rome, we threw a High Ollie party this past Wednesday night. I (Viktor) was on MC duty while Alex Demianiuk, our MVP shop Dirtbag, set the whole thing up. His dad is a welder and built the high ollie contraption, so you know it was good.

Ollies were cracked by the likes of Matthew Boudreaux, Billy P, Billy Bottoms, Nate Blomquist (Common Apparel), Jackson Nemmers, Thommy Snyder and 20 others. The bar was even smoothly limbo’d by Brandon Rhoades, but when the dust settled, it was James Olson who reigned Ollie Pro for the night.

Thanks to all the Damage Slimebags for coming out! And even the ones who hung by the bar and tipped well to John our bartender. Bottom line, Mont Du Lac is the shit! Many more shindigs to come…

HOLY SHIT, ALLLLL TIME!

Quoted from USA Today

“Prison inmates who make decals for the Vermont State Police slipped a pig into the official seal, and up to 30 patrol cars wound up sporting the subliminal epithet, the Burlington Free Press tells us.

The police emblem features a cow, an evergreen tree and snowy mountains (along with three unidentifiable creatures). Back in 2008, an inmate artist at the Northwest State Correctional Facility went into the computer file and modified one of the cow’s spots to resemble a pig, the common derogatory term for police, Vermont Corrections Commissioner Andy Pallito told the Free Press, like USA TODAY a Gannett paper. In 2009, the state police ordered 16-inch door decals.

Pallito said he believes 60 altered decals were made. Some new cruisers have two, while older cars may have just one if a door was replaced. New decals, costing $780, are expected Monday.”

Rome SDS visits Tribute Skateboards

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

After a long stressful week in Denver for the SIA trade show, I decided to re-route my ticket back to Vermont and stop by my OG stomping grounds, Portland, Oregon.  While sampling all the NW fine micro brews and bluebird days at Mt. Hood, I was invited by the owners of Tribute Skateboards to check out their warehouse and new winter line. They killed it with the graphics on these ones and are quickly on the come up…So keep them on your radar as the winter months come to an end.

Be sure to check out their new gear and follow their facebook fan page at: www.facebook.com/tributeskateboards

Here is a little something for your daily video fix as well…

Top 10 iPhotos of 2011 Sort Of

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

So I got myself a fancy new iPhone after upgrading from one of those old brick type deals last September. I then promptly went on the first leg of The Shred Remains video tour and did some  other traveling as well. Here are my 10 favorite iPhone photos from September ’till the end of 2011, in no particular order.

Here is Bud, doing what he does best; not giving a fuck.

Here is the crew enjoying a mellow onion volcano, in PA on the tour, I believe.

A few of us jammed into the van one weekend and went to go see Social Distortion and Chuck Ragan in New Hampshire. Then we went to the beach. It was cool.

Early morning shot from one of the first days of riding this season, going to Killington.

Cliche, but shut up these are my photos. Went to visit some family in San Francisco.

Tunnel driving through PA forever. Don’t instagram and drive.

Really liked the lights at this theater in State College, PA. Apparently so did the guys.

Went into the back room of this old movie theater in Montreal, they had stacks of old films. Pretty rad. City of God is one of my favorites.

Here is Ron, holding court over a totally packed house of rowdy college kids. Awesome.

For obvious reasons this is awesome.

For sitting through my favorite 10 photos, here is one more bonus. It’s LNP sitting on the chimney of a house somewhere in Boston.

If you like these photos, keep up with Rome on Instagram at @Romesnowboards for all sorts of good photo updates.
