I don’t know if he was thinking about Heli Ops at the time, but we were pretty amped at the end of our safety briefing yesterday, but then as the day progressed, it became clear that the clouds weren’t going to go away.
That said, the folks at Alaska Rendezvous Lodge have been super hospitable. Waiting and being ready at a moment’s notice is a big part of the experience of being up here.
Fortunately, we overlapped with a celebration in honor of Doug Coombs (and others who have fallen to the mountains) at the lodge. You may remember Dan Janjigian’s post on this last year.
