Back In The Day — Johan Olofsson/TB5

We’re jumping ahead a little to the mid 90s, but Johan’s break-out part is worthy of being watched over and over again. It’s hard to over-state how much of a badass he was. Like no other rider of the time, he mixed freestyle stuff with big mountain stuff. Taking up where Salasnek left off, he stepped it up with size, speed and power. When he dropped the line at the end of the part, no one had ever seen anything like it before. Unquestionably the grandfather of Rice’s mind-blowing shit.

3000 feet, 50degrees, 35 seconds. This is such a classic video part, I can remember being blown away the first time I saw it. Love the method at 1:30 too.
