The Birth of Halfpipe Progression – 1988
Though nothing like today’s 22-footers in NZ, these were some of the first major halfpipe sessions ever and the start of real progression. Pretty much all the heavies of the day were there–Kidwell, Craig, Palmer, Lamar, Damian, etc. And except for a few other random boards like Damian’s Avalanche, pretty much everyone was on a Kidwelll pro model. A bunch of photos made it into print in Transworld, including at least one of Kidwell’s classic slobs.
