Rock and Roll Thursday ! Hawkwind

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Since we recieved over 300 emails asking what the hell happened to Rock and Roll Tuesday earlier this week I’ve decided to come back on the radar to give you some HAWKWIND ! Dave Brock, Dik Mik, and Lemmy kill it!

You are probably familiar with this song, but here it is with Hawkwind..
Hawkwind Album version of Motorhead
But Lemmy did it much better with w/ Motorhead after he was booted from Hawkwind for being awesome.

See you next Tuesday with more Rock and Roll!

Wednesday’s with Bill. Murray.

No good Mexican food in Vermont

Moving from the West Coast to Vermont wasn’t the easiest. Well it just got a little easier by means of Burrito Mountain in Waterbury. Ian and I cruised down there for lunch today. Finally, good Mexican!  Thanks Agatha!

Über Space

So George isn’t around this morning, maybe he’ll do a Rock ‘n Roll Tuesday post  later in the day.

A year ago or so, Cavan cast a net out looking for psychedlic music (I think for the Magic Bus segment) and in my searches trying to help I found this site.

Well after a hiatus, the main poster has started posting to it again.  From the bizarre to the popular you’ll find all sorts of stuff on there; it displays an unbelievable range of musical appreciation.

What’s also great is that the poster puts up a lot of tracks on Box.net, so if you find something you really like, you can probably download it.  So much of the stuff is from record labels that don’t exist, or artists they have to find by looking them up in the phone book

Probably my favorite thing I found on here was The Fort Mudge Memorial Dump.  Here’s the link to the blog on them. “The Seventh is Death” is one of the key tracks.

So I hope you use like Google Reader or something to track the Rome SDS blog,  I would highly recommend tracking the Über Space blog as well.

Some other good blogs that I follow on Google reader include:

>>>Eiki and his brother’s page.  Usually good for a Youtube video of a crash or something.
>>>Willie’s blog on the Bluebird site.
>>>Soccer Insider blog from Washington Post.  A little DC United focused, but when the US had their run in the Confederations Cup it had some of the best reporting.
>>>And of course VT Death Rider, which since they post so rarely you have to follow it on a RSS feed

My friend Jay and I when the explore so cave few days ago. It was interesting to see how cold it gets further down you go. It was sometimes so narrow that it was hard to keep going futher. We found a room in the end where there is enough space to chill 3 or 4 people.

Sea creatures and other things

Friday, July 24th, 2009

A couple weeks ago, my wife and I went to Gloucester, MA with her parents, brother, etc, for an epic week hanging on the beach, reading some good books, freezing my balls off in the water, and eating some of the best sea creatures i’ve ever had. If you appreciate eating the finer things from the sea, i highly recommend a trip out there.

Here is a photo journal of the trip. Some of the photo quality falls in the ‘questionable’ department, but, ya know, like, deal with it.

Cavan and I were watching this seasons GNAR entries for 5 hours straight the other night. Dumont, Forester and Mike even made swing throughs. We’ll be announcing the winner later this month after a couple larger group viewings of some of the stand-outs.
