I’ve completely shelved all my snowboarding gear as the recent heat wave that has graced the NE has revealed, in all her glory, the Rome Mini. So stoked to be shredding this thing again. Here’s me dropping in for the first time this year:

Wednesday’s with Bill. Murray.

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Well, after the (complete lack of) overwhelming response from this new segment i’ve started here, I bring you the second installment of Wednesday’s with Bill. Murray.

Which is nice.

I heart Timber Ridge!

With all the World Quarters hoopla around here, I got thinking about the last time I was at Timber Ridge.

It was earlier this season and Cavan called and invited us desk jockey’s down for a photshoot/shredfest.  He was coming off a Trip with Max and Laz for Onboard and wanted to get some final shots at our beloved Timber Ridge  A few of us made the treck down and spent an amazing day shredding our own private mountain in the mid-winter sun.

We got there and immediately got towed up to the top behind George for the first run of the day.  The snow wasn’t great but it was warm enough to soften up and by mid-day it was on.

Funny things…..

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

So today’s blog is going to be about funny things you can do while you’re on the lift with a stranger. In my opinion, the more nervous the stranger is to be on the lift alone with you, the better.

- Slowly, about a half inch at a time continue to scoot towards them until you’re pushed right up against them. This works better of course on at least a quad, since it would be a short game on a double.

- Pretend to weep the entire lift ride, then laugh manically when you get off.

- Speak loudly about how hard you partied and the substances you did last night on your phone. Also make sure to speak graphically about sexual conquests.

- Take your goggles off and stare directly at them emotionless for the whole ride.

- Keep sniffing them.

- Ask them the same cliché “lift stranger” question as many times as possible. “ So, where you from?”, “How many years you been riding?”. Make a game out of it, break your own records… can you straight faced get 8 “where you froms” on one lift ride?

- Fart loudly and blame it on them while waving your hand in front of your nose.

- Strike up a normal friendly conversation and then inappropriately confess something very personal that’s not true, like a serious crime you committed, or that you’re gay and haven’t told your parents.

- Pull something strange out of your jacket. This takes some forethought, but the possibilities are pretty endless. A couple options that come to mind are, pornographic magazine, or something even more awesome like a zip lock bag full of mashed potatoes, and then you can scoop some with your hand and offer it to your new friend.

I don’t have all the answers; these are just a few funny things I could think of. There are definitely more productive things you can do with your lift time, my friend John learned to play the harmonica in a season of lifts. I’d love to hear some other awesome lift games if they’re out there.

Wednesday’s with Bill. Murray.

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

There are other websites out there that feel the need to name each day of the week to a particular post, and then update it every week with related content. Apparently it works for them, so i’m stealing the idea. Straight up. No apologies.

Without further ado, i present the first installment of “Wednesday’s with Bill. Murray.”®©

Today we find the epic revenge sequence from Rushmore, one of the greatest movies ever made.

Marky B’s Boardfest

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Ali sent over pictures from Marky B’s Boardfest, which is held at my old stomping ground King Pine in memory of my good friend Mark Bierweiler. We all spent a lot of winter days and nights shredding around that little mountain and from what I hear it still goes off on Tuesday nights (two for Tuesday night sking).

Snowboarding was really fun this weekend here in the North East.  Super soft and spring-like.

Today however, from all the fun, my back and neck are sort of hurting, and I thought I’d give myself a good Monday pick me up.

Just make this sign where ever you work.  You’ll feel better about yourself, and make others feel worse about themselves.  It’s a win-win, or win-lose I guess, but as long as you’re in the win column.

You can even make one that says something like “reserved for best person”, and put it in front of your car when you park at like the supermarket.
